As we are working our way through the ABC of Watch Brands in the high-end arena, we have talked about A. Lange & Sohne, Breguet and now we are going to explore Chopard. What I love about this brand is that it is a very recognizable and unique watch and brand. It isn’t easy to be unique in today’s market, yet Chopard has still managed to find a way to keep themselves separate from the crowd while maintaining their status as an elite timekeeper.
The History of Chopard
In 1860 Louis-Ulysse Chopard established his workshop in Sonvilier, Switzerland and he quickly gained a reputation for building a precise and reliable watch. In 1937 Paul Louis Chopard, Louis-Ulysse’s son, moved the company to Geneva, but it was when the brand was sold to Karl Scheufele from Germany, that the company really began to thrive.
Chopard is one of the leading names in the high-end watch and jewelry industry and is renowned for its creativity and state of the art technology and the excellence of its craftsmen. What sets them apart is that is one of the few fully independent family run watch businesses to this day. They keep it all within the family to maintain the corporate integrity and brand integrity.
The Models of Chopard
Chopard has several models within their main models. The Classic racing, which is a streamlined chronograph that comes in all different materials, bands and both men’s and ladies. The LUC, which has several complications to choose from, Happy Diamonds has diamonds that dance around the inside of the bezel of the watch while Imperiale has diamonds that stay put around the crown and dial and bezel and Classic is just what it sounds like, Classic.
All models are fabulous and you can’t go wrong with any of them. Ladies, you can wear the men’s if you like, as they aren’t so huge they are overpowering.
