I’m Sporty. In fact, you can call me Sporty Sergio if you want. My wife, she’s Fashion. We are Sporty and Fashion Nuncio, and we named ourselves after our watch style. Does this make you want to break out in a Spice Girls song? It does for me, because it reminds me of the Spice Girls and how each of their names were indicative of their personalities: Sporty, Scary, Ginger, Posh and Baby.
When you buy a watch, the watch style is also a function of your personality. It says who you are. Are you sporty or a fashion icon? Are you contemporary or traditional? No matter which watch style you do go with, or even if you like to switch off, what you are strapping on your wrist is going to say who you are that day and how you are feeling.
Your Watch Style & You
Sports Watches – If you are a sports watch kinda person, you have a wide range of selection for the wide range of activities that you might partake in. Whether you are looking for a watch for a specific sport or to make a statement, you can find a watch style that will cover everything from running to sailing.
The features and functions of sports watches are what make the watch style so much fun, in my opinion. From water resistance to a tachymeter you can find a multitude of different things to help you through your workout or your tennis match or even improve your golf game or at the very least help you look better while you are doing all of the above.
When you think sports watch, think of the Rolex Explorer, Rolex Submariner or any of the Tag Watches. Omega also makes some great sports watches. If you want to go really high end, the Richard Mille is a fabulous watch and if you want to go really low end, I suggest a G-Shock.
Fashion Watches – Investing in a watch from a leading fashion brand is a great way to get instant designer style. Many fashion watches have their own distinctive style and signature logo that is incorporated in the design. These watches can come in all shapes, sizes and price points, so you can get the designer name without spending a fortune, or you can also get the designer name and spend a fortune.
One thing to remember, not all fashion watches have the same inner workings as watches that are made by traditional watch making houses, such as Rolex or Piaget. So, if you invest in a Chanel J12, you are paying a lot of money for the name Chanel on your watch and not necessarily for the movement inside the watch. On the other hand, you can get a great looking watch that will last you a couple of years and even though it might be trendy, for the price of the watch, it is well worth following the trend.
Traditional Watches – The beauty of traditional watches is that they will never go out of style. A classic watch is ideal for any generation, whether it’s a retirement gift or wedding gift for the groom. Not only do they never go out of style, they never lose their value, which is why you will pay more to begin with for this watch style.
Think of Patek Phillipe, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet and Cartier. All of these are classic watches that are made to last and be worn. They are great for men and women and look great for both form and function. The watchstrap can be skin or a bracelet and the watch style is usually slender and beautiful and the complications, though they might be complicated, they are still simple to view.
So, which watch personality are you or do you have multiple personalities?
