boating

We’re about to kick off boating season, which means EVERYTHING is finally coming together. Your maintenance in on-point, the props aren’t dinged anymore, and bottom job is still good (for now).

The only thing that would make this boating season better is having a strong watch game. We all know that boating is just as much about show as it is about having fun out on the water. Take a look at our picks for the best watches you can wear out there this summer! Whether you’re fishing, yachting, sailing, or diving, you’ll want to see these.

Top 10 Watches for Boating this summer:

10. Rolex Submariner

Boating

An absolute classic. The Rolex Submariner is a mainstay for boaters and divers because of it’s classic look and durability under water. The Sub’s revolutionary Oyster case makes it waterproof up to 1,000 feet, which means it will be up for anything you throw at it.

9. Bulova 24 Karat “Joseph Bulova” Timepiece

Joseph-Bulova-Collection-Pure-Gold-Timepiece-1

As one of the more delicate watches on this list, the Bulova 24 Karat is MUCH more suited for a light day on the water than a sports fishing trip. The real reason it made the list is that it flat out looks incredible and is still water resistant up to 30 meters! It’s 24 Karat yellow gold case is also a major ice-breaker when you are anchored off-shore.

8. TAG Heuer Aquaracer 500M Calibre 5 Super Swimmer

boating

Boasting a 41 mm Stainless Steel case, the Aquaracer is one of the latest in Tag Heuer’s line of GMT watches. For divers, the oversized numbers on the bezel are easy to read, and the luminescence on the Aquaracer is very adequate for night-time viewing. In addition, the Aquaracer is surprisingly thin for it’s 500m rating.

7. Rolex Yachtmaster

boating

Ah the original. Created in the 1992, the Yachtmaster is essentially an upscale Submariner. It has bigger, bolder indexes and much more visibility on the dial than it’s younger brother. The “lollipop” seconds hand and counterweight is a simple addition to add character to the watch. Like all diving Rolex watches – this watch is tough and can handle any water activity, and it’s bi-directional bezel makes it useful for almost all water activities with the exception of serious diving.

6. OMEGA Seamaster Diver ETNZ Limited Edition

If you haven’t been keeping track lately, Omega has been producing some incredible watches that feature ceramic elements over the past few years. The ETNZ Limited is one of the larger watches on this list at 44mm. We love this watch because of its bold look and comfortable rubber strap for a day out on the water.

5. The Panerai Radiomir Regatta 1/8 second Titanio

boating

Panarai watches are extremely popular for serious boaters because of their water resistance. In brushed titanium, this watch allows for several different bracelet types (including alligator leather), and is the largest watch on this list at a whopping 47mm!

4. Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean

boating

Available in Sedna gold, Black and White, Red, or Blue, the Planet Ocean is a fully ceramic watch that is water resistant up to 600m. This watch is a professional-grade diver’s watch that features an incredible helium escape valve that protects the crystal from popping during decompression.

3. Rolex Deep Sea

boating

Water resistant up to 12,800 feet (yes, you read that correctly). 904l Stainless Steel construction. Helium escape valve. Basically, this watch is a beast. Our favorite is the 44mm Deepsea D-Blue Dial that commemorates James Cameron’s epic history-making solo dive. This watch is an absolute must-have for serious boaters.

2. Rolex Yacht-Master II

boating

***The Yachtmaster II model shown above is a customization by Titan Black. Jonathan’s is an exclusive Titan Black partner and has the ability to customize most fine watches. Learn more about Titan Black here.***

Originally debuted in 2007, the Yacht-Master II is specifically designed for yacht races. It features a programmable flyback countdown timer that makes it extremely useful for every day life as well as boating by allowing smaller countdown intervals than other chronographs on this list. Like the Submariner, the Yachtmaster II is water resistant but only up to 100m.

1. Rolex Yacht-Master 40MM

boating

Wow. That’s the reaction that everyone had when the 40mm was unveiled at Baselworld. The new “Oysterflex” band makes this watch extremely comfortable and hypoallergenic while maintaining it’s shape well. What we love about this watch is the overall look. At 40mm, this Everose gold version of the Yachtmaster is a slightly more comfortable wear than it’s 44mm Yachtmaster II predecessor.
