When it comes to jewelry trends, there are not many designs that are truly original. Especially when it comes to solid gold jewelry. When I was young, one of my first pieces of fine jewelry was a nameplate. This was all the rage in the late 1980s and early 1990s. My nameplate was a simple script name, with a single diamond dotting the “I”.

I loved my nameplate, and at the time, I thought it was a one-of-a-kind piece. That is, until I went to school and all my girlfriends had similar ones.

What made our nameplates all look so much alike was the font. It seems that the same font was in every jewelry shop and was the standard for any “custom” personalized design. I loved my nameplate, and I still love the concept of a “nameplate”. This is probably why I feel in love with this latest trend, solid gold signatures.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this trend! Just think about the different possibilities. You could do your first name, your nickname, your pet name, or your new married name. The possibilities are endless.

I have already started to see this trend take shape at our shop. Over the holidays, several ladies came in to treat themselves to their own special creation. I expect to see many more over the next few months.
