[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Today we are going to step away from the series on watch anatomy for minute to talk about how to refresh your watch.  I am really fickle when it comes to watches, and I break up with them pretty easily.  It’s not a good quality, and I am trying to find the good in my watches and stick to them longer, but I get bored.

If you buy good quality then you know that you can get your money out, so it’s easy to put them on eBay or find a dealer and sell them and get most, if not all, of your money out. And, if you are a watch dealer, like me, it’s even easier to sell your watch and move on the next thing that has caught your eye.

Refreshing Your Watch

As nice as it sounds to be able to just buy and sell when the whim strikes it’s not realistic, so how do you refresh your watch instead of going out and buying something new?

This is where Brian from B.J. Straps comes into the picture. First, I have to tell you that I found Brian through an Internet search and told him that if I liked his product I would write about it. I got nothing for this, but a fabulous new look for my Panerai and a beautiful handmade watch strap.

B.J. Straps

Brian is a watch enthusiast, just like all of us.  He started making his own straps and one thing led to another and now he has a business.  All his straps are made of real leather and hand stitched.  This is the real deal people, and I am wearing it to prove it.

Here is what he recommends you have to know before ordering to get exactly what you want.  I suggest you be as detailed as you can so you get exactly what you want, because here is the thing, he can do anything you want, so don’t be shy in contacting him.

  • Width of the strap in millimeters. Most watches take a 20mm, 22mm, 24mm, or 26mm wide strap.
  • Length of the strap in millimeters or you can just tell him the size of your wrist.
  • Stitch style or layout. You can simply say “straight” or “wrapped” or “boxed” or “lug only”.
  • Any other special requests like “notching” or if you want your buckle polished or brushed finish should also be noted as well.

My BJ Watch Strap

When you go to the website and find the initial strap you like, be sure you click through all the pictures.  The reason is that each picture shows you all the different ways the hides can look as straps, and the different ways that he uses the hides as straps.

For example, I got the belly section of Genuine Caiman Croc hide in cognac. It is backed with a soft calf hide for extra comfort and proper thickness. And, here is the best part, the strap cost $95 and it took about 3 ½ weeks to make.

Refreshing Your Watch

If you want to refresh your watch, I suggest you swing by BJ Strap before his site explodes and his prices shoot through the roof.  Tell him Sergio sent you![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
