Keep reading to see the unique sparker that Denning was gifted. First, let’s get to know the couple.
The Couple – Kat Dennings and Andrew W.K.)
Chances are you know one or the other, but did you ever expect this duo to quietly fall in love under the radar!?
Kat Dennings is an actress and her most notable role was in 2 Broke Girls. The CBS sitcom ran for six years before its cancellation in 2017. Later, she was cast as Darcy Lewis in the Thor films. Most recently she acted in the Disney + series, Wandavision.
Kat’s early years were spent filming commercials. She graduated from homeschool early and moved to Los Angeles with her family in pursuit of an acting career.
Her professional debut was on HBO’s Sex and the City in 2000, where she played an obnoxious 13-year-old who hired Samantha to handle publicity for her bat mitzvah.
Dennings was raised in a Jewish household, but later shared with The Jewish Journal of Greater LA that, “Judaism is an important part of my history, but, as a whole, religion is not a part of my life.”
Andrew Wilkes-Krier (Andrew W.K.) is an American rock singer, producer and actor. His stage name hales from an elementary school teacher, so they could differentiate him from two other Andrews in the class.
The industry breakthrough came with party rocking albums I Get Wet and The Wolf in 2000-2003. From there W.K landed an opening act with the Foo Fighters and later a gig at the Mercury Lounge in NYC.
He’s been on several television networks and made cameo appearances on a variety of shows. In addition, he’s produced and mixed music for other artists.
How did Kat Dennings and Andrew W.K. Meet?
Dennings has always kept her relationships private. She dated Josh Grobin for two years, but managed to keep it out of the limelight.
We don’t exactly know how Kat and Andrew were introduced, but she was well aware of him back in 2014. She flirtatiously responded to a photo he tweeted of himself with “You are a tall drink of milk AWK.”
In April, she tweeted a screenshot of W.K. which hinted at a budding romance. He pretended to be a weatherman walking past a map of the midwest that just says “PARTY” over and over again.
She wrote alongside the image, “me on my vaccinated walks,” to which the rocker replied with a red heart emoji.
The couple made it Insta official in April. Both Kat and Andrew posted the same photo– him kissing Dennings on the forehead as she pouts her lips at the camera.
Only a month later, they announced their engagement on the same platform. Dennings posted a photo of the ring on her ringer as her hand lay atop W.K.’s with a simple “Don’t mind if I do” caption.
It seems like a whirlwind relationship, but we imagine there’s a quiet history between the two.
How did he propose? We’ve yet to hear details from the pair, but we’re willing to bet it was as unique as the ring.
Now, what you’ve all been waiting for. Ring details!
We get a good glimpse of the ring from Dennings’ Instagram photos. It’s a dazzling, specially crafted three-stone ring. Many jewelry experts are saying it’s one of the more unique celebrity rings of the year thus far.
Kat’s engagement ring appears to showcase an emerald-cut center stone with two trapezoid diamonds flanking each side per Michael Fried, the CEO of The Diamond Pro.
The three stone ring trend rose when Harry and Meghan were engaged in 2017. Since then, lots of alternative engagement ring styles have surfaced as couples move away from the traditional diamond solitaire engagement ring.
According to jewelry experts, the center diamond looks to be around 4 carats. The ring’s value is estimated between $125,000 and $150,000 depending on the clarity and overall weight.
We look forward to learning more about the ring and proposal. In the meantime, what do you think about this style?
