If you’re planning to get engaged this year, you’re probably deciding between the countless romantic places to propose. Other than the ring, (which is obviously the MOST important part), the proposal location is probably the second biggest decision you’ll make. Nailing the perfect engagement takes a ton of planning, and a really romantic location for the backdrop.
According to Brides.com, some of the most Instagrammable proposal locations of 2019 include Central Park, the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Canyon, and Lake Louise in the Banff National Park.

Over the years, we’ve been a part of literally thousands of successful proposals in every location you can imagine. If you are planning on pulling off a destination engagement, let us give you a few suggestions for the proposal spot.
Jonathan’s Top 10 Most Romantic Places to Propose:
1. New York, NY
Looking to keep your engagement in the U.S.? New York City makes as big and bold of a statement as any. While NYC may be best known as a concrete jungle, it certainly has it’s fair share of romantic proposal spots as well!
Take her for a walk in Central Park or the Botanical Gardens, or maybe hit the ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center. If you want to be REALLY adventurous, the top of the Empire State Building is a classic proposal spot.
2. Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is packed with romantic locations, whether you are looking for incredible architecture, the best wine serving gastropubs in the world, or beautiful beaches.
One of our favorite potential engagement spots is Parc de la Ciutadella– a beautiful green oasis in the historic section of Barcelona.
3. Marrakech, Morocco
If you want a romantic engagement location that is every bit as exotic as it is beautiful, be sure to do your homework on Marrakech. This desert paradise features everything from beautiful snowcapped mountains, to real life bazaars. Take your future wife on a moonlit horse-drawn carriage ride through the desert. You would definitely win points for creativity!
4. Bora Bora
The trip to Bora Bora can take as much as two days from America (you have to stop in Hawaii first), but the scenery is well worth the travel time.
Bora Bora is famous for it’s high-end beach resorts and overwater bungalows. Imagine proposing in complete privacy over the ocean, and then jumping into it from your room!
5. Buenos, Argentina
Buenos Aires is a vibrant, one-of-a-kind city where the Tango reigns supreme. Believe it or not, Buenos Aires’ legendary cemeteries are a popular spot to pop the question, but we’d much prefer that you choose a sunset proposal at Puerto Madero instead.
6. Sydney, Australia
The Sydney Harbour Bridge, the iconic Opera House, or the beautiful harbor are all worthy places. Sydney has it’s fair share of landmarks you can use for an unforgettable proposal setting. A few of our favorite ideas? Take her kayaking in the bay (please don’t drop the ring), or perhaps this Sydney Opera House flash mob proposal would do the trick.
7. The Maldives
The Maldives is about as secluded as it comes. This Indian Ocean paradise is full of European resorts, situated on ridiculous white sand beaches. Unlike most of the places on this list, the best times to visit are from December to February. If you are planning a holiday engagement– the Maldives is THE romantic location for you.
8. Florence, Italy
If you’re searching for unbelievable views and an old school, rustic feel, you have to consider Florence. How do you think she would react to a moonlit proposal by the Arno river that runs through the heart of the city? What about getting on one knee in front of the beautiful 15th century Belmond Villa St. Michele building? (The view there is breathtaking).
9. Turks and Caicos
Ahhh. Turks and Caicos has some of the most crystal clear, emerald blue water that we’ve ever seen! The beaches are white sand, and the relaxation and luxury factors are at an all time high here.
Jonathan’s exclusive engagement tip: Have the bartender at your resort surprise you and your future fiancé on the beach with champagne glasses (hers will have the ring at the bottom). This takes a little bit of planning with the bartender ahead of time, but when she sees the custom engagement ring you designed at the bottom of her glass…she won’t say no. We promise.

10. Paris, France
For number one on this list, we had to go with the old standard! There are just too many incredible places to propose in Paris–from the Louvre, one of the romantic gardens at the Versailles palace, to of course a private picnic at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
You could also propose at dinner in a side ally cafe (a la “Lady And The Tramp”), or on a hot air balloon ride over the city. There’s really no way to go wrong with a Paris proposal.
