Supermodel and Victoria Secret veteran Jasmine Tookes has been flashing her new bling around LA, and it’s no wonder why. Fiancé and Snapchat mogul David Borrero used all the tricks up his sleeve.
From the flawless seven carat diamond to the surprise proposal of a lifetime, this engagement story is #goals!
The Couple: Jasmine Tookes and Juan David Borrero
Jasmine Tookes
Tookes has become an international super model icon and famed Victoria Secret angel. She was discovered at 15 during her mother’s showroom appointment, who is a celebrity fashion stylist.
Jasmine has walked the runway for posh brands like Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, Versace and Carolina Herrera to name a few.
She appeared in her first Victoria’s Secret fashion show in 2012, and has walked each year since. Then Forbes’ named her one of the ‘Highest Paid Models’ in 2016, earning around $4 million that year.
Juan David Borrero
LinkedIn says that Juan was Snapchat’s 23rd employee and he has held various roles throughout the years, working on product launches, marketing campaigns and fundraising projects.
He’s since risen through the ranks to become a director of international markets. At 30 years old, his net worth is around $10 million per sources.
The couple has been dating for four years, but we’re unsure how they initially met. Regardless, they’ve shared some epic adventures over the years to exotic locales like the Galápagos Islands, Egypt and Thailand.

The Engagement Story
This proposal story is of legendary, fairy tale proportions. Tookes shared every last detail with Vogue, and we think this one’s going to be hard to top.
First, Borrero surprised Tookes with a romantic trip. She came downstairs after a work meeting, and Borrero gave her two hours notice to pack before whisking her away.
He blindfolded her and made a pit stop where they first met– The Rose in Venice, California. Then it was on to the airport to board a private plane headed toward Page, Arizona, complete with catered champagne and Popeye’s chicken for the road.
Then they transferred to a helicopter and finally landed in a secluded location amidst the desert rocks in Utah. Two chairs and a table with champagne and charcuterie awaited them, where they would take in the scenery for an hour before moving to a lookout area nearby.
There, Jasmine noticed a bunch of rocks placed on the ground, which spelled out WYMM. (That’s millennial speak for Will You Marry Me?)
Then the finale in Jasmine’s own words:
As I was processing this, I heard a drone flying from above which had a string hanging from it with a small black pouch below. This is how the ring was delivered to him. As the drone approached, he reached into the pouch pulled out the box and went on one knee. I was in complete disbelief and immediately burst into tears because this was something I did not expect. After lots of happy tears, I obviously said yes, and this was honestly the best day I could’ve ever imagined. We are very excited and looking forward to a future filled with lots of love and happiness.”
See! Told you this proposal will be hard to top. Now about the ring…
The Engagement Ring
Borrero popped the question with non other than a custom Ritani ring. Tookes has worn Ritani on and off the runway for years, so the brand was an easy choice.
The custom design took months to perfect, but the final piece was worth the wait. According to People magazine, the ring showcases a flawless, 7 carat oval-cut diamond set in 18kt yellow gold.
This engagement ring also features a hidden halo with diamond-embellished prongs, with additional platinum prongs chosen for extra security and sits on a plain gold band. The ring is valued at over $250,000.
The couple has decided to wed in Borrero’s hometown of Ecuador, although no plans have been solidified because of the pandemic. Can you image how gorgeous this wedding will be? We can’t wait for all the details to come.
