Lindsey Vonn and P.K. Subban are a match made in winter sports heaven. The couple was engaged back in August, and Lindsey’s been showing off her gorgeous bling ever since.
P.K. went with perhaps THE trendiest gemstone and cut of the year. Hint– it’s NOT a diamond!
Don’t follow winter sports? You’ve probably still heard the names of Lindsey Vonn and P.K. Subban a time or two.
She’s one the most decorated Olympic alpine skiers in history. She has four World Cup overall championships under her belt, and recently retired at 34.
P.K. Subban is a professional hockey player for the New Jersey Devils. He recently signed a $9 million per year contract, so you know Vonn’s ring has to be good!
The couple met several years ago at the ESPY Awards, but didn’t officially start dating until last spring. Vonn was in a relationship at the time, but as soon as that ended, P.K. swooped in.
P.K. shared with Entertainment Tonight, “I knew a long time ago that I was going to get engaged to Lindsey and obviously eventually get married but nothing comes before its time and with our schedule, it’s tough, to be honest…”
Meanwhile, Vonn had absolutely no idea a proposal was coming.
THE ENGAGEMENT STORY
Many celebs prefer an intimate and personalized proposal, and Subban was no different.

P.K. made a bold move and chose the ring with zero input from Vonn. He picked it up from the jeweler and decided that day was the day he’d ask Lindsey for his hand. When you know, you know, and sometimes the details don’t matter.
She came home from a business meeting, and P.K. dropped to one knee right out of nowhere. Shocked and surprised, Lindsey said “YES!”
“We never talked about it or looked at rings,” she shared with Vogue. “But he gave me an emerald necklace at Christmas, and I loved it. I wouldn’t change the ring at all.”
And of course the Instagram announcement came shortly after.
The estimated 4 to 4.5 carat emerald cut gemstone is accented by two diamond baguette side stones. A Brilliant Earth representative stated the ring probably cost between $50-60,000.
Why did P.K. go with this particular design? It has meaning for them both actually! The emerald is his birthstone and her favorite color is green. It’s a ballsy choice without prior ring shopping together, but even so–Vonn reportedly loved it! Well done P.K.!
As for wedding plans, the couple is taking their time, but have hinted at summer 2020 nuptials.
