This time, a celebrity is embracing a super unique style– a pearl engagement ring! Emma Stone and Dave McCary announced their engagement last month, and fans are loving the unique bling.
The Couple
From Superbad to Academy Award winning actress, Emma Stone has been in the limelight since childhood. She was the highest paid actress in the world in 2017. But there’s no 15 carat, $2 million dollar diamond ring for this A-List celeb. You’ll be surprised by how affordable Stone’s engagement ring is!
Dave McCrary is a Saturday Night Live segment director, and has largely flown under the radar during his two year relationship with Stone. They met on the SNL set when she hosted the show back in 2016.
The first year and a half of the relationship was kept rather quiet, and probably on purpose. Stone and McCrary were first spotted leaving the premiere of his film Brigsby Bear in 2017. Rumors surfaced of a split in 2018, when Emma was seen dining out with an ex. Later in the year, the two seemed to be snuggly on the dance floor of a a roller-skating party that Emma hosted in December 2018.

The Engagement Story
After a few earlier engagement ring rumors in 2019 after Emma is spotted with a diamond ring on that finger, they announce the real deal engagement on Instagram.
Buuuuut, they haven”t really spilled any details on how the engagment went down. It was probably a super intimate and sweet proposal given their low key and private relationship.
Even Dave’s caption leaves everything a mystery; just a simple heart emoji. We’ll wait for the details. In the meantime, on to what we know about the ring.
The Ring
Although the Instagram image is blurry, we can tell the ring center is a pearl! And luckily, sources were able to dish on the details. Pearls are making huge moves in the jewelry scene. The strand of pearls was once considered a classy grandma necessity. Now, individual pearls are making statements in dainty necklaces and rings.
The Details
Sources confirmed with People and Page Six that the hand made ring is from the New York based jewelry store Catbird. There are three NYC locations: two in Brooklyn and one in lower Manhattan. Apparently Meghan Markle and Taylor Swift are also fans of the trendy company.
This particular pearl ring is the Karaoke Pearl Snowflake Ring-Supreme. How fitting for a December winter engagement.
The ring, which retails for $4,780, was made in the workshop of renowned Tokyo-based jeweler Yoshinobu Kataoka, and features 8 millimeters of “untreated Akoya pearl,” 0.37 carat diamonds and solid 18-karat gold band, according to the brand’s website.
Akoya pearls are considered to be the classic pearl used for necklaces and other pearl jewelry, due to their perfectly round shapes, bright mirror-like luster and neutral colors.
