Celebrity engagements have exploded as of late and today we have the scoop on Britney Spears and Sam Asghari.
Britney has made plenty of news with the recent battle to end her 13 year conservatorship, but we’re here to peep out the bling. You have to see her gorgeous, custom designed ring that’s super on trend right now!
The Couple
First, let’s get to know the couple a bit better!
Britney Spears
At this point, Britney Spears, 39 is a household name whether or not you grew up during the ‘BabyOne More Time’ era. Spears has been in the spotlight since she was a teen with the release of her first two diamond albums– Baby One More Time and Oops…I Did it Again.
Spears has had a wildly successful career sprinkled with bouts of substance abuse and rehab. She was famously in a relationship with Justin Timberlake early on, briefly married to her childhood friend, and then later married to her backup dancer, Kevin Federline. The couple divorced, but they have two sons together.
More recently, she has been in the media for fighting to terminate a 13 year conservatorship. The #FreeBritney movement was established on social media. Earlier this month, her father Jamie filed a petition to end the conservatorship.
Sam Asghari
Sam Asghari, 27 has been in a relationship with Britney Spears for about five years. The couple has kept their romance low key, but we do know a bit about the model turned actor.
He’s a personal trainer and owns Asghari Fitness, a program offering members personalized work out programs and customized meal plans.
His sister encouraged him to audition for a modeling gig, which eventually landed him several large contracts- a Super Bowl ad and several music videos. He’s amassed a huge social media following and has started breaking into the acting scene.
But speaking of music videos.
How did Britney Spears and Sam Asghari meet?
The couple met on the set of her music video, “Slumber Party.” According to his recent interview with Men’s Health, he had butterflies at first sight of Britney.
He told the magazine, “She said, ‘Hi, I’m Britney,’ and I said, ‘I’m sorry. What’s your name again?'” he said. “I tried to be funny. I don’t think anybody got it.”
The two exchanged phone numbers, went out for sushi, and the rest is history.
The Proposal
The engagement news broke on Sunday, September 12, but we’ve yet to uncover specific details about how the proposal went down.
A source close to Asghari confirmed with E! News that he proposal occurred at Spears’ home. The source shared, “They have been talking about getting engaged for a while now and Sam totally threw her off today at her house. She was so taken back, she screamed.”
The couple was quick to announce their engagement on social media, and Brittny has been flashing her new ice all over her page.
The Ring Details
Britney’s ring features a 4 carat floating round brilliant stone in a platinum cathedral setting. It also has pavé detailing on the bridge and flush-set diamonds on the prongs and basket.
Asghari customized the ring further by having “Lioness” (his nickname for Britney) engraved inside the band.
The custom engagement ring was designed by New York based designer Roman Malayev of Forever Diamonds NY. Asghari stated, “Every designer I spoke with about the ring was amazing with great ideas, but I just clicked with Roman — we really connected on the design and he was as excited as I was to make it special — that’s why I chose him.”
