Baselworld 2016

If you didn’t know – keeping up with Baselworld 2016 is like opening presents on Christmas morning for watch fanatics. Every year, thousands of watch and jewelry exhibitors gather from all over the world and meet in Basel, Switzerland for a convention that’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

The biggest thing that has the Jonathan’s team excited about this year’s convention is the new watch releases! Rolex, Omega, Tudor, Brietling, and many other fine watch manufactures will use Baselworld 2016 as the showcase for their new watch models. We love this time of year. πŸ™‚

Check out a few of our favorite watch releases from Baselworld 2016:

Stainless Steel Rolex Daytona with Black Ceramic Bezel

Baselworld 2016 - Rolex Daytona with Ceramic Bezel

My. Goodness.

The Daytona has always been a staple for Rolex lovers, but the new black ceramic bezel makes the Daytona pop in a way it hasn’t for decades. The black bezel is a throwback to the 1965 model, which featured a black plexiglass bezel insert.

The black bezel isn’t only about looks either – there is a ton of sweet technology packed into this Rolex patented design. The new monobloc Cerachrom bezel is scratch proof, UV resistant, and won’t corrode.

Omega Speedmaster – Grey Side of the Moon

Baselworld 2016 - Grey Side of the Moon

While we’re talking about ceramic, we should definitely mention one of the newest additions to the popular Speedmaster line. Omega has always used space exploration as an inspiration for their watch designs, and at last year’s Baselworld they added a bit of Pink Floyd to the mix with the White and Dark Side of The Moon watch releases.

The Grey Side of the Moon, or “Meteorite”, has a full ceramic case (yes, you read that correctly) that is scratch resistant with a transparent case back. The ceramic bezel has 18k gold incorporated for the Tachymeter numbers, which is appropriately named “Ceragold” by Omega. The dial looks incredible and matches the “Meteorite” name well.

Breitling Avenger Hurricane

Baselworld 2016 - Breitling Avenger Hurricane

If you are into rugged, military-grade watches – the Avenger Hurricane is right up your alley. This watch has a 50 mm diameter, which Breitling aptly names the “XXL”. The Hurricane has a military-grade rubber and textile strap, Air Force number styling on the dial, and the Manufacture Breitling Caliber B-12 chronograph.

The calling card of this watch is the use of “BreitLight”. It’s a high-tech material that is anti-corrosive, anti-magnetic, anti-scratch….anti-everything. It’s also lighter than titanium and warmer than metal. Sounds perfect for a hunting trip if you ask us. πŸ™‚

Tudor Heritage Black Bay Bronze

Aluminum Bronze Alloy? Check. Aged Brown Leather Strap? Check. PVD-Treated Steel Case Back? Yep.

Classy? Oh yeah. This watch is killer.

This watch is packed with historical nods to older Tudor watches. It features the “Big Crown” from the 1958 7924 reference model and the “Snowflake” hands used on Tudor watches in the 1970’s for the French National Navy. The Black Bay Bronze also makes use of the MT5601 movement manufactured by Tudor themselves.
